Gokokuji Temple

Shingon Buddhist temple founded in 1681 by the fifth shogun for his mother, and almost unique in Tokyo for surviving the Boshin War, the 1923 earthquake and the WWII bombing unscathed. Its 1697 main hall is one of the oldest wooden buildings in the city.
