Privacy and disclosure

The short version

Roam Tokyo doesn't require accounts, doesn't ask for personal information, and doesn't sell anything about you. Some hotel links earn us a commission. That's most of it.

What we store in your browser

The interactive map lets you save places. Those saves live in your browser's local storage, on your device, and never leave it. We can't see them. Clearing your browser data clears them.

Affiliate disclosure

Hotel search on this site is powered by Stay22. If you book a hotel after clicking through, Roam Tokyo may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is how the site pays for itself. It does not affect which places appear on the map or what we say about them; nobody pays for placement here.

When the Stay22 hotel map loads, Stay22 may set its own cookies subject to their privacy policy.

Third-party services

Map tiles are served by OpenFreeMap, fonts by Google Fonts, and some place photos by Pexels and Wikimedia Commons. Your browser requests those assets directly from their servers, which means those services see your IP address the same way they would on any site using them.

Photo credits

Photos of places come from Wikimedia Commons contributors (credited on each page under their respective licenses), Pexels, and our own cameras. If you are a photographer and believe an image is credited incorrectly, email us and we'll fix it promptly.
