Ladrio
Jimbocho, Tokyo
Ladrio is a 1949 kissaten in a narrow lane off Yasukuni-dori, dim, brick-walled and wood-panelled, and widely credited with bringing Vienna coffee, strong coffee under a cap of whipped cream, to Japan. The spaghetti napolitan is the other reason regulars come.
Insider tip
Order the Vienna coffee and take a table at the back. It stays open into the evening on weekdays, which makes it a good last stop after the bookshops close.
