Fukagawa Onsen Tokiwayu is an 80-year-old temple-style sento near Kiyosumi-shirakawa, renovated in 2023 with a newly drilled natural spring. The temple-style building stayed and the inside went modern, with a carbonated bath, a silky bath, an open-air area on the men's side and a Mt Fuji painting by Mizuki Tanaka.

Insider tip

Wash at the taps before you get in, and keep your small towel out of the water. Bath towels rent for ¥150 and face towels for ¥100. The sauna is extra, ¥500 for men and ¥400 for women on weekdays. Open noon to 12:30am (last entry midnight), closed Thursdays. It's 3 minutes from Morishita station.

In Kiyosumi, Fukagawa Onsen Tokiwayu kept its temple-style building and drilled a new hot spring in 2023.
