Omiya Hachimangu Shrine

Omiya Hachimangu is Suginami's big local shrine, set in a wooded precinct right beside Wadabori Park. It calls itself the navel of Tokyo, and families come to pray for a safe birth and for their children's health. Daniel and his wife had their Shinto wedding here.

Walk 7 minutes from Nishi-Eifuku on the Keio Inokashira Line, then carry on into Wadabori Park. The shrine throws beans at Setsubun on 3 February, holds a spring festival on 3 to 5 May and its autumn grand festival in mid-September, and puts on a chrysanthemum show from late October to late November.
