Christmas Markets in Tokyo 2026: Dates, Hours and Entry

Tokyo's Christmas markets for 2026: Shin-Toyosu and Shiba Park dates, hours and ticket prices, plus Roppongi Hills, Azabudai Hills, Marunouchi, Ebisu and Shibuya.

What's on in Tokyo: November 2026 · December 2026

Japan doesn’t do Christmas as a holiday, but Tokyo has taken to the German-style Christmas market in a big way. Wooden huts, mulled wine, sausages, ornaments and a tree or two, set in a plaza that’s usually lit up for the season anyway.

Three markets have their 2026 dates out already: the two Tokyo Christmas Market sites, on the Toyosu waterfront and beside Tokyo Tower, and the free one in Ueno Park. The rest haven’t announced 2026 yet, so for those this page gives last year’s dates and says so. Where an organiser’s page is the source, that’s noted, and this page was last checked on 12 October 2026.

Tokyo Christmas Market

This is the big ticketed one. Hut stalls selling ornaments and German food and drink, with a Christmas pyramid at Shiba Park. In 2026 it runs at two sites at once, and it’s the first year at Shin-Toyosu. (Earlier editions were at Meiji Jingu Gaien, which is why older articles send you there.)

Shin-Toyosu, 20 November to 25 December 2026. Open 11:00 to 21:30, with the last entry at 20:30. Opening day starts at 16:00. The site is at 6-4 Toyosu, a short walk from Shin-Toyosu Station on the Yurikamome Line. There’s no parking.

Shiba Park (Onarimon Plaza), 4 to 25 December 2026. Open 11:00 to 22:00, last entry 21:00, and opening day starts at 16:00. It’s a 1-minute walk from Exit A6 of Onarimon Station on the Toei Mita Line, and Tokyo Tower stands behind it. Zojo-ji is next door, so it works for an early evening of temple and tower first.

Tickets (from the organiser’s site, same at both): adults, meaning junior high age and up, pay ¥1,000 on weekdays and ¥1,500 on weekends and holidays until 23 December. Elementary school children pay ¥500. On 24 and 25 December it goes to ¥2,000 for adults and ¥1,000 for children. Advance tickets for adults include a mug and went on sale on 1 October.

Tokyo Christmas Advent, Ueno Park

Free, and open for the longest run of the lot. It has two areas in Ueno Park. Hakamagoshi Plaza, right outside the Keisei Ueno Station main exit, is open 6 November to 25 December from 12:00 to 23:00 (last order 22:30). The Shinobazu Pond area, on the Saigo Takamori statue side, opens 18 November (17:00 to 22:00 that day) and runs to 25 December. Its hours are 15:00 to 22:00 Monday to Thursday and 12:00 to 22:00 on Fridays, weekends and holidays. JR Ueno and the Metro’s Ginza and Hibiya lines are about 3 minutes from the plaza, and the pond area is about 5 minutes on foot from Ueno. Ueno has its own guide.

Roppongi Hills and Azabudai Hills

Mori Building runs “Christmas Hills 2026” across five of its developments, and says Roppongi Hills and Azabudai Hills will both have Christmas markets. The dates are the missing piece. The organiser’s page says details go up on 22 October 2026.

For reference, last year’s Roppongi Hills market ran 22 November to 25 December 2025, 11:00 to 21:00, under the big roof at O-yane Plaza, free to enter. Azabudai Hills ran on the same dates and hours in the central plaza around its arena and lawn. Expect something similar, and check the Christmas Hills page after 22 October.

Roppongi’s Keyakizaka illumination starts on 5 November, so the lights are already up when the market opens. Azabudai Hills connects directly to Kamiyacho Station on the Hibiya Line.

Marunouchi Street Park Winter

The car-free stretch of Marunouchi Naka-dori behind Tokyo Station gets Christmas market stalls and kitchen cars from local shops and hotels, under the champagne-gold Marunouchi illumination that opens on 12 November.

The 2026 winter edition hasn’t been announced. The 2025 one ran 13 November to 25 December from 11:00 to 22:00, with 19 market stalls on Naka-dori, and a second strip of stalls and four fir trees on Gyoko-dori (the avenue to the Imperial Palace) from 28 November. Walking through costs nothing, and you pay only for what you eat.

Yebisu Garden Place

A smaller European-style market on Clock Plaza and Chateau Plaza beside the Baccarat chandelier. The 2026 dates aren’t out. In 2025 the Clock Plaza market ran 8 November to 25 December and the Chateau Plaza one from 28 November, both weekdays 17:00 to 20:00 and weekends and holidays 12:00 to 20:00, and it can close in rain or strong wind. Ebisu has plenty to eat afterwards.

Shibuya Christmas Market at MIYASHITA PARK

On the rooftop park above the shops, with the market styled after Frankfurt’s. The 2026 dates aren’t announced. In 2025 it ran 1 to 25 December. Entry was free on most days, with a ¥1,000 fee at the gate (¥1,500 in advance with goods) on six busy days, the weekends of 13 to 14 and 20 to 21 December plus 24 and 25 December. Primary school children and under went free, and entry on those days was in two-hour slots. Shibuya is the obvious base if you’d rather have late-night food next door.

Tokyo Skytree Town

Skytree Town has run a picture-book-themed Christmas market with German-style huts, part of its Dream Christmas season. The 2025 season ran 1 November to 25 December, with the lights switched on from 6 November. The organiser hasn’t given 2026 dates, and its page gave no separate dates or hours for the market.

Just outside Tokyo: Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse

Not Tokyo, but close enough to be worth knowing about. The Christmas Market at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse runs 20 November to 25 December 2026, with an 11 m fresh-cut tree. Hours are 17:00 to 21:00 on opening day, 11:00 to 21:00 until 4 December, then 11:00 to 22:00. Standard entry is ¥500 to ¥1,000 depending on the day, and priority tickets cost ¥2,000 to ¥2,500. Elementary school children and under are free with an adult, and some areas don’t charge. From Bashamichi or Nihon-odori Station on the Minatomirai Line it’s about 6 minutes on foot.

How the markets work

  • Go on a weekday. The Tokyo Christmas Market charges less on weekdays, and the evenings and weekends in the last week before Christmas are the busiest. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day cost the most.
  • Go as it gets dark. The lights are the point, and the Tokyo Christmas Market and Marunouchi both stay open until 21:00 or later.
  • Dress for standing around. Most of it is outdoors. Tokyo in winter has the weather.
  • Pack light. Shibuya’s page says there are no lockers, and the Tokyo Christmas Market has no parking at either site.
  • Weather can close them. Yebisu and Shibuya both say they may close in storms.

Pair it with the lights

Most of these markets share a site with an illumination. The winter illuminations guide has dates and routes for Marunouchi, Roppongi Hills, Ebisu and the rest, so there’s no reason to repeat them here. If you’re planning around dates, tokyo-in-winter and the month pages linked under the byline list everything else on during your trip, including New Year if you’re staying on.
